It was a beautiful drive down to Summit Lake with the amazing Carroll family! Although it was a little rainy in Fairbanks, most of the drive was sunny. We got to see a few moose on the drive down near Delta. Passing through the mountains, many of them had fresh snow. The aspen and birch trees’ leaves were starting to turn a magnificent yellow and orange.
The Carroll Cabin was adorable! It was very roomy and was supplied with all the necessities! From the back porch the view was of Summit Lake. When you went out the front you could see the Gulkana glacier. We took off from the cabin on their 4-wheelers. They led me through the hills, valleys, rocks, and water! We stopped many times so I could photograph their beautiful daughter for her senior photos!
We stopped in front of the Glacier, amongst some fall colors in the trees.
We stopped in front of the Hoodoo Mountains for some cute close ups! We stopped up at a rickety foot bridge for some pretty amazing shots! I can’t believe she was able to look this fierce in those heels, up that high, with the cold wind blowing, on that bridge! I would try and photograph her from different sides and the whole bridge would shake! The photo results came out very successful!
We stopped at an old cabin along the old Valdez to Fairbanks trail. It was dilapidated but rustic!
We stopped amongst the brightest fall colored trees we saw. This is definitely my favorite time of year!
We stopped along the path to photograph her on her bike!
The last stop was on top of a beautiful, but windy and cold hill! We picked some blueberries while she changed. The view of Summit Lake was breathtaking. We tried to make this the quickest location due to the extreme cold and she took posed like a model!
We went back to warm up, drink some beer, play some cards, and eat some delicious enchiladas! It was successful photo trip and just a great little vacation away from Fairbanks! I can see why they wanted me to come out there and why they head there so often! Thank you Carrolls for the incredible weekend and all of the food, beer, and laughs!
